About

Located in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, Juniata College is a close-knit liberal arts institution best known for its flexible "Program of Emphasis" (POE), which empowers students to design their own customized majors guided by two faculty advisors instead of following a traditional major system. The college is particularly distinguished for its exceptional placement rates into medical and professional schools, bolstered by standout programs in the natural and health sciences, peace and conflict studies, and hands-on environmental research at its 365-acre Raystown Field Station. Campus culture is warm, collaborative, and deeply community-oriented, enriched by access to outdoor recreation and beloved campus traditions like Lobsterfest and Mountain Day, a spontaneous unannounced holiday where classes are canceled for a day of celebration in nature.
