About

Mount Angel Seminary, situated alongside a historic Benedictine monastery atop a scenic hilltop in Saint Benedict, Oregon, is renowned as the oldest and largest Roman Catholic seminary in the western United States. The institution is highly regarded for its academically rigorous undergraduate program in philosophy and its prestigious Graduate School of Theology, which offers master’s degrees designed to form future priests, deacons, and lay ecclesial ministers. The campus culture is deeply communal and contemplative, structured around the Benedictine monastic rhythm of prayer, study, and work (*ora et labora*). A truly distinctive highlight of the student experience is access to the world-renowned Mount Angel Abbey Library, a striking modern masterpiece designed by legendary Finnish architect Alvar Aalto that provides an inspiring, light-filled environment for scholarly reflection.
