Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York is the premier seminary of Reform Judaism, best known for preparing future rabbis, cantors, and Jewish educators through its renowned Rabbinical School and the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. Located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, the campus culture is intimate, intellectually demanding, and deeply committed to social justice and contemporary spiritual expression. Students benefit from extensive hands-on pastoral field work across the New York metropolitan area as well as access to unique campus resources, including the Dr. Bernard Heller Museum of Jewish art. As part of the oldest Jewish institution of higher learning in the Western Hemisphere, HUC-JIR uniquely blends historic text study with progressive leadership training for modern Jewish life.

It has three locations in the United States and one location in Jerusalem. It is the oldest extant Jewish seminary in the Americas and the main seminary for training rabbis, cantors, educators and communal workers in Reform Judaism. Hebrew Union College has campuses in Cincinnati, Ohio, New York City, Los Angeles, and Jerusalem. The Jerusalem campus is the only seminary in Israel for training Reform Jewish clergy.
