About

Tufts University, located just outside Boston on a scenic hilltop in Medford, is renowned for blending the rigorous academic resources of a premier research institution with the intimate, collaborative environment of a liberal arts college. The university is best known for its world-class International Relations program, top-tier School of Engineering, and exceptionally strong pre-professional tracks in medicine and health sciences. Students, affectionately known as "Jumbos," thrive in a civically engaged and intellectually playful campus culture championed by the Tisch College of Civic Life, which integrates public service into all fields of study. A distinctive hallmark of the Tufts experience is its deeply global perspective, epitomized by unique initiatives like the Tufts 1+4 bridge-year program that allows incoming freshmen to pursue a year of civic service abroad before starting classes.

Wikipedia:Tufts University is a private research university in Medford and Somerville, Massachusetts, United States, with additional facilities in Boston and Grafton, as well as Talloires, France. It was founded in 1852 as Tufts College by Christian universalists who sought to provide a nonsectarian institution of higher learning. For much of the 20th century, Jackson College for Women was the coordinate college of Tufts. Tufts remained a small liberal arts college until the 1970s, when it became a larger research university offering doctorates in several disciplines. The corporate name of the university is "Trustees of Tufts College".
