About

Located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, the United States Air Force Academy is a premier federal service academy renowned for developing military leaders and commissioning officers for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. The academy offers a full tuition-free education with exceptional strength in STEM, particularly through top-ranked programs in aeronautical, astronautical, and cyber engineering, as well as national security studies. Cadet life is defined by an immersive, highly structured military culture that pairs rigorous academics with mandatory athletic participation, military drill, and a strict honor code. Uniquely, cadets gain hands-on aerospace experience through signature airmanship programs like glider soaring and freefall parachuting, graduating directly into active-duty service as commissioned second lieutenants.

Graduates of the academy's four-year program receive a Bachelor of Science degree and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force. The academy is also one of the largest tourist attractions in Colorado, attracting approximately a million visitors each year.
